The word of the day

I am not a very proficient speller, so in my office a row of brightly coloured square notes line my bookshelf with lists of words, that I can not spell well enough for a spell checker to understand. ( And yes, in the duration of writing this, I added a blue note with the word proficient written on it). It seems the words with a CH sound, that are written with any variation of letters, BUT the letters -C-H- , seem to be a trend of constant confusion for me:
  • initials
  • appreciate
  • sufficient
  • partially
  • special
  • accentuate
  • decision
  • essential
In addition to not being a very proficient speller, I am not a very strong memorizer of passwords either. And I, like many of you, must sign-in to my work computer every morning.
So in attempt at self-improvement and life-long democratic learning principals, I use my spelling words as my passwords.

I've found it contemplative, starting everyday with just one word. I've come to realize that it sets my intention, without me even realizing it.

For the last while or so, my password/spelling word, has been Initiate

This morning, as if on cue, my computer informed me that it was time to give up this word. The computer offered me the option to change now, or wait another 11 days. I always find this curious - that we need time to separate ourselves from our passwords, that we need to work up to making the change.

Keeping the word initiate at the tip of my tongue, and feeling the cool fall winds blowing this morning and after hearing the school bus return to the corner outside my window, I thought that today, the first day of a new season, was no better time to change.

I looked up at my wall of colour, and instantly found my new mantra for the season, my new password/spelling word, sitting alone on a canary yellow note:

Conscientious

Was this post percolating in your mind on this past weekend? I can remember bits of it from around the camp fire. I compliment you on the final result it has a lovely flow and imagery. The systems security fiend in me hopes, though, that you are not using a dictionary word as your password unless it is wonderfully misspelt.
